This came in the wake of the company snapping up a number of animation companies, including 3Lateral and Cubic Motion. Most importantly, they've made it accessible to everyone."Įpic announced the MetaHuman project in February of this year.
Now, as part of Epic Games, they've been able to push the technology even further-and make it happen in real time. "Companies like 3Lateral and Cubic Motion have been pushing the limits of digital human creation for years. "MetaHuman Creator has been decades in the making," Epic wrote on the Unreal Engine site. Epic says there are already more than 50 ready-to-go MetaHumans for people to download and integrate in their games via Quixel Bridge. In a post on its website, the company said that people can now create digital people and download them to use in their Unreal Engine projects.

MetaHuman Creator was first introduced in February and caused a stir among game developers and professionals from other fields. “Rest assured, we will do our best to get everyone on board as soon as possible,” Epic Games stated. The company also noted that not everyone will have access to MetaHuman Creator right away due to its cloud-based nature. Epic’s application allows developers to edit facial features, skin, body types, hairstyles, teeth, etc. It looks very user-friendly and reminds of some in-game character creation tools, but with a professional twist to it. MetaHuman Creator is based on 3Lateral and Cubic Motion technologies. The company also introduced 50 ready-made models available for download from Quixel Bridge. Epic Games opened registration for the MetaHuman Creator Early Access program on the Unreal Engine’s official website.
